Why Choose Affirmations in Your Own Voice?
Learn what own-voice affirmations offer, how to make them realistic, and why general self-affirmation research is not proof of SelfSpeak’s clinical effects.
Affirmations are words you choose to revisit. Hearing them in your own voice is one way to make a listening routine more personal. That does not mean it works better for everyone.
What makes it personal?
You choose the goal, review the words, and hear a familiar voice. A statement such as “I can take one useful step today” may feel more realistic than a sweeping promise of success.
What the research does—and does not—say
General research on self-affirmation studies different practices, including reflection on personal values. Findings from those studies cannot automatically be applied to AI-generated voice affirmations or to SelfSpeak. We do not present those findings as a clinical trial of this app, proof of faster belief change, or evidence that own-voice listening outperforms other approaches.
Choose words you can use
- Pick one situation or goal.
- Write a realistic statement, rather than denying the difficulty.
- Connect it to one small action you can take.
- Notice whether the practice is useful to you; change or stop it if it is not.
For example: “I can ask one clear question in the meeting.” This is an illustrative example, not an exact generated output or a guaranteed result.
SelfSpeak is a personal self-talk tool, not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not replace professional care, and individual results are not guaranteed.
